We start at the Lagoas Negra and Comprida viewpoint, offering sweeping views of two of the island’s most famous landscapes. We then head towards Lagoa Seca and Lagoa Branca, a peaceful area teeming with migratory and native birds.

Activity details
This route takes you to the central plateau, where nature reveals itself in its purest form.

Along the way, we pass through green areas and rockier terrain, with the ocean always present, shaping the landscape.

The final part of the trail involves a descent to Fajã Grande, the westernmost parish in Europe, at the famous Poço do Bacalhau waterfall – a great spot to rest and a chance to take a dip in the waterfall.

And to round off the day, a delicious lunch steeped in local culture will be served.

Participants must be fit enough for moderate walks on uneven terrain.

Not recommended for people with severe mobility, heart or respiratory problems, unless medically advised.

Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Restrictions
Pregnant women: light activities only

Reduced mobility: the route is not recommended for people with mobility difficulties, due to ascents, descents and uneven terrain.

Minimum age: children under 12 must always be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Fitness: participants must have moderate stamina; people with significant physical limitations may not be able to complete the trail.
