WildScape Azores ToursDiscover the splendid wonders on the North side of São Miguel, we’ll drive between different villages to reach some of the most splendid views and waterfalls our island has to offer. Activity details
- Start this tour driving up the “Serra de Água d’Alto” where the Lagoa do Fogo (Fire Lagoon) is nestled. Excellent photo opportunities of both south and north sides of the island arise at the top of the most recent volcanic formation of São Miguel. Feel the involving nature mixed with abundant bird sounds.
- On our way down we’ll get off the main road to discover some of the older roads used by our ancestors to travel through the north, where nature has retaken its space due to minimal human intervention. Admire beautiful landscapes of the northern cliffs, hills and pastures from privileged viewpoints.
- Discover some of the picturesque waterfalls at the island where the water never ceases and nature is lush and full of vibrant colors, may them located be near the main tourism circuits or off the beaten track.
- Learn about the traditional tea cultivation and processing at two different plantations: one with a large offer of souvenirs and products and the other one with a more ancestral vibe, where most of the traits of older days were kept. The only full cycle tea producers in Europe.
- Indulge your tasting buds with our regional food, you’ll have options of meat, fish and vegetarian in this buffet of traditionally made local food. (Starter, Main Course, Drink, Dessert and Coffee included).
- Explore the valley of Ribeira dos Caldeirões, one of the most popular locations on this side of the island. A nice smooth walk after lunch to let digestion settle observing well-arranged garden areas and different waterfalls along this natural park.
- Take a short walk near the coastline to observe the marvelous sea view and get a closer look of the cliffs that arise all along the northern coast.
- If we still have the time, we’ll visit a pineapple plantation or a local liquors factory before finishing off, the choice will be on the table after booking a tour with us.
Remember São Miguel for its unique landscapes, the local cuisine rooted to the sea, exquisite fresh organic products, including our diverse array of teas, locally cultivated fruits, and their delicious beverages.
This tour stands out from the rest for the different options we provide to our guests: between short hikes through lush remote areas, visiting traditional local producers, swim at a waterfall, it all depends on your will and curiosity.
Our personnel excels in taking care of you, not just guiding/driving you around the island or telling a lot of repetitive information, we adapt to the individuality of our guests. Promoting at the same time a very close experience with nature and letting our unique culture leave an unforgettable imprint on your travel memories.
