Vila Franca Islet Reserve (October 16 to April 14)
See upclose a volcanic marvel – the Islet of Vila Franca do Campo off-coast protected natural reserve. Learn more about its geology, and living fauna and flora! The tour starts with a short briefing introducing to the volcanic islet’s geology, plant and animal species that can be found, the nature reserve’s rules, and safety. Everyone will follow the Guide and Skipper to their designated boat, for 10 minutes travelling by sea to the Islet.
Lagoa do Fogo, Caldeira Velha e Salto do Cabrito
We set off from Ponta Delgada towards Lagoa do Fogo where we will visit the various viewpoints that give us various angles of this lagoon; then we descend to the Caldeira Velha complex where you can bathe in the warm waters surrounded by the Laurissilva Forest. After this relaxation, we'll descend even further to the Salto do Cabrito waterfall, where our tour ends. This tour is available in Portuguese and English

Pico Mountain provides the backdrop for this active adventure. Feel the salty air through your hair as you paddle through crystal clear waters.
Along the way, we get a chance to kayak into a volcanic crater. Armed with a snorkel, we stop briefly at a pebble beach to admire the marine life. From the sea, we also see the remains of a vibrant whale past.
It’s the perfect chance to discover Pico Island in a really fun and interesting way.
Whale watching
During this activity you will have the opportunity to observe whales and dolphins (cetaceans) in their natural habitat. The main whale watching season on the island of Faial runs from April to October. You can go on a whale watching tour regardless of age and physical state, everyone is welcome! * The trip is shared with other participants and requires a minimum of 6 persons
